MANILA, Philippines - Canlubang hopes to use its homecourt edge as it resumes its title drive in the WGAP (Women’s Golf Association of the Phils.) circuit which begins tomorrow at the Canlubang golf complex in Laguna.
The Cangolf ladies closed in on the pacesetting Alabang squad after five legs of the eight-stage circuit pending the result of the Orchard leg last week at the Dasmariñas layout.
The two-day event ending Wednesday also features Tagaytay Highlands, Manila Southwoods and Sta. Elena, which remain in the title hunt in the annual circuit organized by Women’s Golf Association of the Phils.
Alabang showed the way with 22 points after five legs but Canlubang threatened with 17 points with a solid performance in the Southwoods leg last month.
Events on tap are the Classes A, B and C with a maximum of 10 players for each squad in each division with the aggregate best four scores under the Modified Stableford system counting for the team’s score.
Meanwhile, the year-long circuit will wind up at Sta. Elena with a fierce battle for the overall championship seen on Oct. 12.
Tagaytay Highlands has 12 points after five legs while Southwoods and Sta. Elena tote nine and eight points, respectively. Aguinaldo and Forest Hills each had seven points while Villamor and Valley tote six and two points, respectively.
