Ateneo, La Salle renew rivalry in SBP finale

MANILA, Philippines - Top NCR teams clash on Sunday for the regional title of the 2009 Milo-sponsored BEST Center SBP-Passerelle tournament at the Saint Pedro Poveda Gym in Ortigas.

In the SBP division, archrivals Ateneo de Manila and La Salle Green Hills will dispute the title and the right to represent NCR in the national finals.

Ateneo, defending national champion, reached the finals after trouncing Notre Dame of Greater Manila, 72-33, while La Salle advanced by thwarting the challenge of Xavier School, 60-49.

Meanwhile, San Beda College and La Salle Green Hills battle it out for the plum in the Passerelle division.

The Red Cubs secured their berth after derailing Antipolo Lady of Lourdes School’s bid, 81-42, while La Salle moved into the championship after a tightly-contested match against Xavier School, 81-79.

Widely regarded as a breeding ground of champions in sports and in life, the 24th Milo-sponsored BEST Center SBP-Passerelle is part of the continuing commitment of Milo to promote sports in the grassroots level and develop the country’s next generation of basketball heroes.
