Magnolia underbone resumes at Carmona
MANILA, Philippines - The country’s finest underbone riders clash this weekend as they firm up their respective title bids in the fifth and penultimate leg of the 2009 Magnolia Health Tea Philippine Underbone King Championships at the Carmona Racing Track in Carmona, Cavite.
Suzuki teammates Paul Mark Doblada and Johnlery Enriquez are tipped to dispute both the 115cc Open and 115cc Sports Production crowns with the former leading with 175 points and the latter just 13 points behind with 162.
Out to foil their bid are Honda riders Herbert Lopez and Bryan Ortile, who tote 140 and 137 points, respectively, along with Jeff Chan, Anthony Roman, Dexter Daquigan, Niño Fabian, Dashi Watanabe, Mark Barcial, Fil-Japanese Masato Fernando and reigning Superbikes champion Maico Buncio.
In the 115cc Sports Production, Enriquez has accumulated a total of 166 points or 11 points behind the frontrunning Doblada who has 177 points.
Focus will also be on the 180cc Automatic Scooter 4-Stroke class where KC Ng of Takashi Racing seeks his second straight win over Ivan Santiago, Paul Pangilinan, Josh Reuben Tan and Roger Hu.
Buncio, on the other hand, tries to beef up his title bids in the premiere 150cc Open and the 130cc Open of the event sanctioned by NAMSSA and sponsored by San Miguel Corp., Magnolia Health Tea, Aeromed, Inside Racing and Pagcor.
He leads the 150cc Open with 178 points, just a point ahead of Masato Fernando who had a 177.
In the 130cc. Open, Buncio continues to dominate with 150 points over Anthony Roman, Danny Daquigan, Marvin Mangulabnan, Ivan Santiago and Masato Fernando.
Also favored is Paolo Labador in the 115cc Super Stock class with 175 points against Michael Altamira, Michael Cortez, Cris Firanesa, and Marlon Arseo.
