MANILA, Philippines - Action in the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines (WGAP) circuit is expected to be fierce as pacesetting Alabang and second running Canlubang press their respective bids in the sixth leg of the series at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite tomorrow.
The Cangolf ladies produced a seven-point performance the last time out at Southwoods, topping Class B and placing second in Classes A and C in their most impressive outing thus far in the eight-leg circuit.
That gave them 17 points in the race for the overall championship, closing in on Alabang, which pooled 22 points on two third-place finishes in the tournament organized by WGAP.
The Orchard leg, slated last week, was reset for tomorrow with Cangolf hoping to dish out another solid showing after scoring five points in the fourth leg at Riviera from a first place finish in Class C and a runner-up effort in Class B.
Tagaytay Highlands is in third with 12 points while Southwoods and Sta. Elena had 9 and 8 points, respectively. Aguinaldo and Forest Hills each had 7 points while Villamor and Valley tote six and two points, respectively.
Events are Classes A, B, C with a maximum of 10 players for each squad in each division. The aggregate best four scores under the Modified Stableford system count for the team’s score.
Meanwhile, Canlubang will host the penultimate leg on Sept. 21-22 with the year-long circuit winding up at Sta. Elena on Oct. 12.
