Patriots pace volley finals
MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion La Salle-Dasmariñas held off Olivarez College to pull off a 27-15, 25-22, 25-20 win yesterday in the opener of their best-of-three finals showdown in the men’s division of the eighth Universities and Colleges Athletic Association volleyball tournament at the Technological Institute of the Philippines-Casal campus gym.
The Patriots pounced on the Sea Lions miscues in the third set, winning the last five points to complete the straight-set victory in the event backed by Mikasa and Molten Balls.
Earlier, the TIP Lady Engineers turned back the Philippine School of Business Administration Lady Jaguars, 23-25, 25-22, 25-9, 25-23, 15-10, in their semifinal duel.
Led by Desi Anne Montero, Lillibeth Acaya and Annalyn Pomida, the Lady Engineers arranged a finals showdown with the La Salle-Dasmarinas Lady Patriots.
