Alabang, Cangolf resume WGAP circuit rivalry
MANILA, Philippines - Action in the WGAP (Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines) circuit is expected to be fierce as pacesetting Alabang and second running Canlubang press their respective bids in the sixth leg of the series at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite on Monday.
The Cangolf ladies produced a seven-point performance the last time out at Southwoods, topping Class B and placing second in Classes A and C in their most impressive outing thus far in the eight-leg circuit.
That gave them a total of 17 points in the race for the overall championship, closing in on Alabang, which pooled 22 points on two third-place finishes in the tournament organized by Women’s Golf Association of the Phils.
It was actually Cangolf’s second straight solid showing as it scored five points in the fourth leg at Riviera, copping the Class C title and finishing runner-up in Class B.
Tagaytay Highlands is in third with 12 points while Southwoods and Sta. Elena had 9 and 8 points, respectively. Aguinaldo and Forest Hills each had 7 points while Villamor and Valley tote 6 and 2 points, respectively.
