Que fires 69, trails by seven

-

MANILA, Philippines - Angelo Que used a solid frontside stint to fire a two-under par 69 and trail Australian Brett Rumford by seven strokes at the start of the European Masters at the Crans-Sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland Thursday.

Que, the reigning Philippine Open champion, birdied three of the last four holes at the front in an impressive start but failed to hit another the rest of the way, dropping a stroke on No. 12 to finish with a 33-36 card at the par-71 layout in the Swiss Alps.

That put Que in joint 37th with Ryder Cup veteran Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland, former US Open champion Michael Campbell of New Zealand, Thai Thaworn Wiratchant and India SSP Chowrasia, seven shots off Rumford.

But while Que flourished, compatriot Artemio Murakami limped home with an 80.

Rumford birdied the last four holes to shoot a 28 for a nine-under 62 and a one-shot lead over Englishman Simon Dyson, who had a 63.
