Stags eye No. 12 versus Generals

MANILA, Philippines - Unbeaten San Sebastian hopes to come out fresh from a 12-day break as it shoots for win No. 12 against Emilio Aguinaldo College today even as St. Benilde fights for survival against Letran in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

The Stags took a long rest after trouncing the Perpetual Help Altas, 80-70, last Aug. 21 but are expected to dominate the Generals just the same in their 2 p.m. encounter.

EAC is in joint seventh with Perpetual with 3-9 slates, needing a victory to keep its slim chances for the fourth and last semis berth.

Letran, which edged Arellano U, 89-85, last week to seize solo fourth with an 8-4 (win-loss) slate, is hoping to keep its place in the top four as it plays St. Benilde at 4 p.m.

With a 4-7 record, the Blazers are still in the Final Four race but would need to hurdle the Knights to remain in the hunt.

RJ Jazul and Rey Guevarra are expected to lead the Knights’ charge again the way they did against the Chiefs in their first meeting where they scored 18 points apiece.
