-

MANILA, Philippines - University of St. La Salle of Bacolod City held its own against some of the best collegiate teams in the country to bag the crown in the PCSO Invitational Women’s Inter-Collegiate Beach Volleyball Challenge at the Cantada Sports Center in Bagumbayan, Taguig City.

The Ilonggo pair of April Ross Hingpit and Patty Jane Orendain beat Ateneo de Manila’s Asia Urquico and Jessica Morado, 21-9, in the finals of the dual tournament organized by Joe Cantada Sports and backed by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Toyota-Otis, Toyota-Balintawak, Tanduay, Lucio Tan Jr. and Mapecon with ZestAir as the official airline.

“I heard they were determined to compete here despite the bad weather the past weekend. And we’re glad they came and gave us one heck of fine beach volleyball action. We congratulate, too, the other participants for making this event a success,” said Edgardo “Boy” Cantada of the organizing Joe Cantada Sports.

The other teams in the invitational tourney were Ateneo de Davao; Central Philippine University, Iloilo; Far Eastern University; University of Mindanao-Tagum City; University of the East; Colegio de San Juan de Letran; Adamson; World Citi College and University of the Philippines.
