Boracay hosts WGAP-Luzvimin tourney

MANILA, Philippines - The Fairways and Bluewater in Boracay will host the 2009 WGAP-Luzvimin golf tournament on Aug. 26-28 with 19 teams and over a hundred players clashing for top honors in team and individual competitions in various divisions.

This marks the first time that the par-72 layout in this top tourist beach destination which boasts of crystal clear waters and powder white sands will be hosting the annual tournament with the rolling, wind-raked course expected to provide a different kind of challenge for the country’s top golfing ladies.

Heading this year’s roster is Manila Southwoods, which ruled the premier Diamond division of the event organized by the Women’s Golf Association of the Phils. last year in Bacolod on a team built around Regine de Guzman, Lora Roberto, Beachie Abiera, Kat Gonzales, Claire Ong, Claudine Garcia and Sandy Velhagen.

The other Metro Manila teams are Alabang, Camp Aguinaldo, Forest Hills, Manila Golf, Riviera, Sta. Elena, Tagaytay Highlands and Villamor while Del Monte, runner-up to Southwoods last year, heads the provincial teams that include Alta Vista, Bacolod Golf and Country Club, Baguio Country Club, Cebu Country Club, Mactan Coral, Negros Occidental, Victorias, Camp John Hay and host Fairways and Bluewater.
