MASON, Ohio – Andy Murray was a set and 2-0 down before winning a 53-shot rally and beating Julien Benneteau of France ,4-6, 6-3, 6-1, in the Western and Southern Financial Group Masters quarterfinals on Friday.
The second-ranked Murray will face No. 1 Roger Federer in Saturday’s semifinals. Federer, who won this tournament in 2005 and 2007, extended his winning streak against Lleyton Hewitt to 13 matches with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
Third-ranked Rafael Nadal beat Tomas Berdych 6-4, 7-5, setting up a semifinals rematch with fourth-ranked Novak Djokovic. Djokovic, who beat Nadal in last year’s semifinals, also won 6-4, 7-5 over No. 9 Gilles Simon. (AP)
