MANILA, Philippines - Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (TATAP) chairman Alvin Carranza said the country will stage the eighth Southeast Asian Table Tennis Association Championship (SEATTA) in 2012.
Carranza, also the grassroots and junior program head of TATAP, said the SEATTA council members, in a letter signed by Secretary-General Chan Foong Keong, have approved the country’s hosting of the event.
“I’m very grateful that we’re given the privilege to host SEATTA in the Olympic year and I’m looking forward to it,” said Carranza, who recently organized the Carranz Outdoor National Youth Table Tennis junior selection event in Bacolod .

“This event is also a great boost to our grassroots programs,” said Carranza. “I’m hoping that our national junior team is fully competitive in 2012, so we need to work hard.”
In the last eight months Carranza held two national junior events in Luzon (UP Chancellor’s Cup) and Visayas (Carranz Cup in Bacolod ) to select boys and girls aged 17 below for the national junior pool.
