La Salle upends Ateneo in Classic

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle finally found a way to beat archnemesis Ateneo as it won the 22nd edition of the Ateneo-La Salle Golf Classic at the North and South Courses of Canlubang Golf and Country Club last July 31.

The scores were not as close as those of last year, but the contest was just as tight for the over 250 alumni participants from both schools who played in the event.

In the final tabulation, the Green Archers prevailed over the Blue Eagles , 47-41, by decisively capturing Class A, B, Open, Ladies and the Seniors.

Ateneo took the Championship, C and D classes.

However, it was enough for the La Salle golfers to upset their Loyola rival’s quest for a four-year sweep. Ateneo was champion since 2006. The Classic Cup, first held in 1984, is a friendly but tightly contested tournament between alumni of both schools.
