Benito dominates Magnolia karting 5th leg

MANILA, Philippines - Roby Benito of Ready2Race made his move midway in the final race to rule the fifth leg of the Magnolia Pure Water Karting Super Series at the Enchanted Kingdom EKart Track in Sta. Rosa, Laguna recently.

It was the second straight win for Benito after topping the Asian Karting leg of the series sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Magnolia Pure Water, San Miguel Corporation, Petron, Denso, Motorstar and Aeromed.

Javi Benitez of Jet Racing seized control in the first 14 laps but Benito wrested the lead for good on the next lap en route to victory.

He clocked 13 minutes and 52.080 seconds in the 26-lap race, beating Benitez by just 0.105 of a second.

Ready2Race teammates Joey Orduna and Juha Turalba checked in third and fourth, respectively, while Cebuano Patrick Gandionco came in fifth.

Orduna still keeps a huge lead over Benito, 256-214, in the premiere ROK Overall class and 300-286 in the ROK Junior division.

Vencer John Suba of PCR-Tough Gear also notched his first win in the Formula SL Expert class, upstaging AUTS Racing top guns John Castelar, Joel Caniza and frontrunning Indy Villalon.

Caniza controlled the start of the race but Suba, son of chief mechanic Sonny Suba, made a suave maneuver to wrest the lead on the fifth lap and keep his post from thereon.

Suba ruled the 22-lap race in 12 minutes and 43.706 seconds or 1.333 seconds ahead of John Castelar. Caniza and Villalon followed in third and fourth while Joseph Castelar took fifth place.

Sharing the limelight with Benito and Suba were Cebuanco Patrick Gandionco and Mike Fox of AUTS Racing.

Gandionco turned back Joseph Castelar in the ROK Heavy class while Fox pulled a sweep of the Qualifying Heat, Pre-Final and Final races to rule the Formula SL Heavy division over teammate Archie Rubio and Von Medrano of PCR-Tough Gear.
