Arellano Chiefs scalp Maroons

MANILA, Philippines – Arellano University walloped University of the Philippines, 74-61, to set in motion its back-to-back title bid in the seventh Fr. Martin Division II Cup at the San Beda College Gym in Manila.

Defending high school champion Letran likewise jumpstarted its title-retention campaign as it edged Hope Christian School, 56-50, even as Adamson opened its title aspiration with a bang by smashing University of the East, 83-70.

The league, organized by Ato Badolato, Joey Lim and Kurt de Guzman with Aric del Rosario as commissioner, resumes Saturday with a five-game bill pitting the Chiefs against the Knights at 3 p.m. at the Arellano U gym.
