Enchanted Kingdom stages junior karting

-

MANILA, Philippines - Young talented karters clash at the start of the 2009 Enchanted Kingdom motorsports month today in the fifth leg of the 2009 Magnolia Pure Water Karting Super Series at the Enchanted Kingdom EKart Track in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The 2009 Enchanted Kingdom motorsports month is part of Enchanted Kingdom’s thrust to encourage and develop young talents in various motorsports disciplines. Aside from karting and underbone races next week, EK will also play host to rallycross, autocross and slalom races throughout the month of August.

Cebuano Tonyo Carcel, who emerged Yamaha Cup junior champion in the Asian Karting Open Championship, leads the cast of future champions as he seeks another big win in the Formula SL Novice class of this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Magnolia Pure Water, San Miguel Corporation, Petron, Denso, Motorstar and Aeromed.

Carcel, who upstaged more experienced senior karters in the Asian Karting race, holds a slim lead with 215 points against fellow Cebuano Jette Calderon (194) and PCR-Tough Gear Racing’s Estefano Rivera (189).

And with the last two legs to be staged at Boomland and the Clark International Speedway, the quest for the crown remains anybody’s ballgame.

Joining them are Korean Daniel Park of Ready2Race, Archim Lagman, Lawrence de Leon of PCR-Tough Gear, Jerico Tolin and lone female entry Coleen Yap.

Also aiming to preserve their grip of solo lead in their respective divisions are Carl Pollington of PCR-Tough Gear Racing, Fil-Japanese Marino Sato and Hongkong bet Matthew Solomon of Ready2Race.
