MANILA, Philippines - Informatics International College trampled Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay, 78-67, even as defending champion San Sebastian College-Cavite won by forfeiture over Our Lady of Fatima Univerity in the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU) basketball tournament at the SSC-Cavite gym in Cavite City yesterday.
Leonard Azotea, Juan Antonio Asinas and Mark Montuano scored 13, 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Icons, who kept a share of the lead with SSC-Cavite with five straight wins.
Jimmy Delgado finished with 16 points for the Eagles, who dropped to 1-4.
Five-time champion University of Manila leaned on John Matubang to subdue STI College, 73-62.
The Hawks drew 24 points from Matubang to beat the Olympians and improve to 4-1.
In other games, AMA Computer University nipped St. Clare College-Caloocan, 70-66, and Centro Escolar University humbled University of Makati, 83-66.
Earlier, SSC-Cavite was declared winner by forfeiture when Fatima brought the wrong set of uniform.
The game was later played for the sake of the students with SC-Cavite winning the match just the same.
In the lone junior division, SSC-Cavite defeated CEU, 52-48.
