Benito bags two titles for Ready2Race in Asian kart

MANILA, Philippines - Ready2Race whipped up another huge feat for the country behind Roby Benito, who bagged two titles in the 2009 Asian Karting Open Championship recently at the Carmona Circuit Philippines.

The 14-year-old Benito warded off the foreign challenge as he captured both the Formula 125 Open Junior title and the overall crown of the 2009 Pagcor Sports KF3 plum for Ready2Race powered by Tuason Racing School, Tony Kart, OTK parts, HJC Auto Helmets, Sparco Racing, AIM Racing gauges, Oakley Race Gear, Active Group, Malarayat Golf and Country Club, Antonio’s, Asia Overseas Transport, Anyro Rent-a-Car, Sanyo Seiki Stainless Steel Corp., Bauan Doctors General Hospital, and Cattleya Resort.

He controlled the tempo coast-to-coast as he wrapped up the 22-lap final race in 15 minutes and 56.539 seconds to turn back Malaysian Rahul Raj Mayer and third placer Mohammad Sharif Raharjo.

Topping both the pre-final and final race, Benito clocked 43.779 seconds as he built a wide margin at the halfway mark and took the checkered flag with a 10.669 second lead over Mayer.

Aside from his feat, Ready2Race also copped two runner-up finishes and three third places.

Brian del Val, who’s due to leave for the US to pursue college education, spiced up his farewell stint clinching the first runner-up honors in the ROK Senior class while Joseph Tumambing took the runner-up honors in the Baby ROK class.

Both Tumambing and Basti Escalante, who ended fourth in the Mini-ROK division, displayed excellent driving since the two drivers behind them in their respective classes had faster laptimes.

Juha Turalba, the reigning Asian ROK Senior champ, also delivered an impressive performance, winding up third in the Formula 125 Open Senior and fourth in the KF2 division.

Joey Orduna likewise pulled a stunning third place finish despite being a first timer in the KF2 class as he also wound up fourth in the Formula 125 Open Junior division.

Korean karter Daniel Park claimed the third place finish in the Formula SL Novice class with CJ Tsui ending fourth.

“We’re proud of what the boys did. They gave their best, putting the love for the country first in their hearts beyond their personal interests,” said Ready2Race manager Chito Benito.
