URCC tiff pits Folayang vs Aguon
MANILA, Philippines - Former Asian Games silver medalist Eduard Folayang hopes to draw inspiration from the crowd when he slugs it out with Guam’s AJ Aguon in the “Superfight” of the Colt 45 URCC (Universal Reality Combat Championship) XIV Saturday at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati.
According to URCC founder and president Alvin Aguilar, odds are just about even between Folayang and the 5-foot-10 Aguon, who is raring to create an impact in his debut in the country’s top mixed martial arts event (MMA) dubbed as “Aggression”.
“It’d be hard to say because both are extremely explosive and talented fighters although I would give the slight edge to Eduard,” said Aguilar during yesterday’s PSA Forum at Shakey’s UN Avenue.
The 5-foot-8 Folayang, who won a silver in the sanshou event of wushu in the 2006 Doha Asian Games, won all his four fights in the URCC, including a sensational TKO win over Mariana’s Elite Jerome Norita in Saipan.
“For his 52-second win over his rival, Folayang became an instant superstar in Saipan. But I believe Eduard has the potential to become an international star,” said Aguilar, who was accompanied by Greg Anonas, brand manager of Colt 45 and Remand Lazaro – one of the main attractions in the event presented by Colt 45 Premium Strong Beer.
Aguon, who boasts of a 3-0 record, is arriving today for the event backed by Alaxan FR & E-games with Solar Sports, CS/9, Magic 89.9, 99.5 RT, Rogue Magazine as media partners.
