Custodio's '300' marks WC elims

-

MANILA, Philippines - Veteran campaigner Gary Custodio created a ripple in the 2009 Bowling World Cup’s first center finals by shooting a perfect game en route to a 12-game series of 2880 pinfalls at Bowling Inn.

Custodio’s tally easily helped him advance to the national finals together with the big guns of local bowling led by six-time world champion Paeng Nepomuceno and crack internationalist Liza del Rosario and other upcoming aspirants.

Nepomuceno, the only winner of four World Cup titles so far, rolled a 12-game series of 2570 pinfalls at Paeng’s Eastwood, while Del Rosario tallied a 10-game series of 1899 at Paeng’s Midtown.

Also making it to the national finals were national bowlers Raoul Miranda and Chester King, who carded 2390 and 2451, respectively; Benshir Layoso (2768), Krizziah Tabora (2129), Kap Aguila (2780) and Jaymee Bautista (2064).
