Sogod Alegre beach hosts national triathlon

MANILA, Philippines - Beautiful Alegre Beach Resort and SPA in Sogod, Cebu hosts the second leg of the 2009 Speedo National Age Group Triathlon (NAGTri) series on Sunday with close to 80 entries from Cebu, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro city and other adjoining provinces expected to participate as pipit-pipti triathlon movement in Cebu rolls on.

Organized by Danao Sports Commission chairman Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez, the 1K swim-30K bike-7.5K run follows the initial leg of the series held in Davao City with the remaining legs scheduled later this year in Cagayan de Oro, Los Baños, Laguna, and will culminate in the final leg in posh Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City.

The NAGTri, supported by the Danao Telecoms, Sogod Mayor Moonyen Durano and Danao Mayor Nito Durano, is one of the components of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) grassroots development program in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission under chairman Harry Angping.

“We are happy that again, Alegre Beach Resort and SPA is part of this sports development program of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines and it gives us also the opportunity to show the natural beauty of Sogod and our facilities,” said Alegre’s GM Fritz Kahler.
