MANILA, Philippines - Alabang primes itself up for another title drive in the Women’s Golf Association of the Phils. (WGAP), seeking a third victory in the premier class when the fourth leg of the circuit is held beginning today at the Riviera Golf and Country Club in Silang, Cavite.
The Alabang golfers, led by Verni Oledan and Joan Morales, have dominated the Class A field with two wins in three legs, including a seven-point romp over Tagaytay Highlands in the Villamor leg last month, thus making them the team to beat at Riviera.
Like in the Villamor stop, the organizing WGAP said the Riviera leg will be held for two days due to the big number of participants with Forest Hills, Sta. Elena, Tagaytay Highlands and defending overall champion Canlubang going all-out to foil another Alabang win in team play.
Other competing teams are Wack Wack, Valley Golf, Manila Golf, Riviera, Manila Southwoods, Orchard, Phil. Navy and Aguinaldo.
Events on tap are the Classes A, B and C with a maximum of 10 players for each squad in each division with the aggregate best four scores under the Modified Stableford system counting for the team’s score.
The Muntinlupa-based squad topped two of the three class in the kickoff leg at home then scored a pair of runner-up finishes in the second leg at Forest Hills.
