MANILA, Philippines – The “Makiling Run for Nature and Fitness” will be held in University of the Philippines-Los Baños campus on July 12 with cash prizes at stake in the two-stage race sponsored by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization-Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEAMEO-SEARCA).
SEARCA, headed by director Arsenio Balicasan, is one of the 15 “centers of excellence” of SEAMEO, an inter-government treaty organization founded in 1965 to foster cooperation among Southeast Asian nations in the fields of education, science and culture.
The race will start at 6 a.m. from the SEARCA office area with the first phase – a five-kilometer run being held along the route to the Jamboree (Boy Scouts of the Philippines) on Mt. Makiling and back.
The 10-km second stage will start from SEARCA up to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Region 4 office along Jamboree Road and back.
