Jr. Warriors training gets boost
MANILA, Philippines - University of the East Jr. Red Warrriors coach Mark Herrera has launched a massive program designed to make the team competitive in the UAAP junior tournament after so-so performances in the previous years.
Herrera made the announcement after steering the team to the Flying V Junior crown and the National Youth Development League last summer.
He said he is now preparing the Jr. Red Warriors team B for the PASAREL program of Milo Best, where he is a graduate.
Herrera, also head coach of the grand slam champions Jr. PBA Talk ‘n Text QC team and the national RP Youth 13-under team, said he is proud of his team and their development.
“Next year, the Jr. Warriors will be joining the Small Basketeers of the Philippines (SBP),” said Herrera. “We need mor exposure for the boys. The new batch of players we have recruited are younger and less experienced, and we need these tournaments to train them,” added Herrera, who is supported by the UE management headed by acting physical education director Bren Perez.
