MANILA, Philippines - Raul Corro’s eagle-spiked round of net three-under-par 69 gave him the overall title in the recent Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) Golf Tournament at the west course of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.
The former Muntinlupa councilor finished in a five-way tie for first but won in the countback with a natural eagle on the par-5 seventh hole.
Bobby Villarosa, Willie Maldia and Jovy Opinion also scored 69s like Corro but settled for the top three places in the Class A division of the tourney which had Philweb Corporation and Norkis Trading Corp. as gold sponsors.
Philweb president Dennis Valdes was the Class B champion while Ike Yusingco emerged the Class C winner in the tourney, which raised funds for the Munting Anghel project of ULAP headed by Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos.
Valdes nipped Gene Sison and Arnel Ong in the countback after the three ended up with similar 72s while Yusingco, also with a net 72, finished ahead of Carlos Alejandro (73) and Inquirer columnist Conrad Banal (74).
Also gracing the occasion were Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, Rep. Mikey Arroyo, Reo, Neptali Gonzales II, Rep. Bingbong Crisologo, Gov. Ben Evardone and Mayors Enrico Echiverri, Alfred Romualdez and Bully Navarro.
Silver sponsors were Ayala Land Corp, Cats Motors (Chrysler), DBP, Greenfield Development Corp., Land Bank, Pagcor, PCSO, DOT, PLDT, San Miguel Corp., and SM. Club Car and Autohub Group/Yamaha offered hole-in-one prizes.
