RP karters out to stop Japanese

-

MANILA, Philippines - Filipino karters face a tall order as they try to stop the Japanese challenge in the third leg of the 2009 Pagcor Sports KF2-KF3 Series tomorrow at the Carmona Circuit Philippines.

Back from a series of races in Europe, Stefano Marcelo of TonyKart-Marcelo Racing will banner the country’s bid for honors in the KF2 division in lieu of Bobby Domingo who will sit out for the rest of the season.

Three other young Filipino ace karters – reigning Asian ROK champion Juha Turalba of Ready2Race, Jet Racing’s Javi Benitez and John Alvarez of Maranello-San Miguel Corporation-Marcelo Racing – try to exact revenge against the Japanese in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by Pagcor Sports and Palmer Asia Inc. – The Fire and Security Expert.

Turalba is fresh from his runner-up finish in the Macau leg of the Asian Karting Open Championship while Benitez made it third in the kickoff leg of the series.

But it was Alvarez who has delivered a consistent performance in the KF2 series, finishing second in Round 2 and fourth in Round 3.
