Asuncion eyes 2nd GT victory

MANILA, Philippines – The 2009 Yokohama Philippine GT Championships resumes this weekend at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas with Jan Asuncion gunning for a second straight win.

Asuncion hopes for another top finish to beef up his title bid in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Yokohama, San Miguel Corporation, San Mig Coffee, Aeromed and Pagcor.

Asuncion, in a Honda Civic, waited for the right time to grab the lead on the eighth lap for the overall victory and turn back runner-up Monty Buhay, Willian Tan and Angelo Parugganan in the GT200 division.

Competing drivers will be vying for the crowns in the GT 125, GT 200 and GT 300 divisions in the 12-lap morning Sprint race and the 16-lap Main Race in the afternoon.

Also favored are Paul Henderson Perez who’s eyeing another triumph in the GT 125 class over Nicolo Fernandez and Emayrson Manaog.
