Dolphins in crucial tiff vs Uni-Bikers
MANILA, Philippines - Weather permitting, Cebu tries to stay in the hunt for the other outright semifinal berth as it clashes with Dumaguete as action in Baseball Philippines Series 5 resumes today at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
Heavy rains in the past two weeks forced the organizing Community Sports Inc. to postpone the Cebu-Dumaguete match with the Dolphins seeking a victory to keep its semis hopes alive.
A Cebu victory over Dumaguete in the 7:30 a.m. match will pave the way for resumption of a suspended game between the Dolphins and the Manila Sharks with the score tied at 9 after 11th innings.
But Cebu will need to beat Manila by at least two runs to clinch the outright semis slot.
Cebu will bank on power-hitting Miggy Corcuera and brothers Nico and Sebastian Uichico following the suspension of national players Joseph Orillana, Fulgencio Rances and Jonash Ponce.
