Cybergate, Amisa top Partners/FDG Cup

MANILA, Philippines – Cybergate pooled 36 points as it captured the team championship in the sixth Partners Cup Invitational badminton while Team Amisa bested the field to bag the FDG Cup crown at the Yonex Badminton courts at the Liberty Center in Mandaluyong City over the weekend.

Ryan Laxam, Jolan Guevarra, Rod De Silva dished out big games for Cybergate as it toppled Team Forum for the championship. Other members of the team were Roland Beltran, Bobot Samson, Raymund Baylon, Rey Panes, Jojo Valmocina, Missy Rivera and Henry Laco.

Forum assembled 28 points and nipped Woodsville Viverde, which also had 28 points, for runner-up honors in the event held to foster camaraderie among the management and staff of Robinsons Land Corp.’s (RLC) and its business partners.

Team Amisa, meanwhile, stamped its class in the FDG Cup, the highlight event of the tournament held in honor of Frederick Go, president of Robinsons Land, which also featured the South Korean team.

Meanwhile, Cybergate’s Laxam and Guevarra teamed up to cop the Level A crown, beating Glenn Encarnacio and John Evans of Trion Towers while Forum’s Ian Cruz and Vergel Recaido and Summit Ridge’s Patrick Laud and Wesley Hontivero placed third and fourth, respectively.
