Lagman makes it back to back

MANILA, Philippines – Fast-rising novice karter Archim Lorenz “Kim” Lagman made a big splash in Cebu with his back-to-back victory in the MBA class recently in the third leg of the Magnolia Super Karting Series at the Kart Zone.

The 14-year-old Lagman, an incoming third year High School student at Chevalier School MSC in Angeles, Pampanga, now holds solo leadership in the MBA division and fortified his chances of competing as the country’s representative to the MBA Cup in Italy this October.

Backed up by Migarch and Fern-C, Lagman put up a big fight against Gab Dacasin for the win.

Dacasin held the lead during the first few laps but Lagman stuck close, putting pressure on Dacasin who later spun out midway, paving the way for Lagman’s triumph.

Lagman wrapped up the 28-lap race in 13 minutes, 22.127 seconds, escaping by just a mere 0.235 of a second against Dacasin (13:22.362).

“It was a tough ordeal going up against Gab (Dacasin). This race taught me the value of patience. I just waited for the right time to grab the lead and pull this win,” said Kim, who started in real karting competitions only this year.

Lagman is preparing hard for his first international stint in the forthcoming kickoff of the 2009 Asian Karting Open Championship set June 12-14 at the Kartodromo de Coloane Circuit in Macau.

“Kim has gone a long way since running fun karts in April last year. He’s more driven after that Batangas win and he’s looking forward to a good stint in Macau. But he’s more excited to be the country’s representative to the MBA Cup in Italy this year,” related Kim’s father Roger Lagman.
