MSA, Ateneo, Xavier best in Manila Cup
MANILA, Philippines - Manila Soccer Academy and Ateneo Football Club won the men’s and women’s open division championships at the recently concluded seventh Manila Cup football tournament at the Manila Polo Club while Xavier School and Xavier FC dominated the kids’ division,winning five of the seven age group categories contested.
The men’s open division saw Manila Soccer Academy, led by MVP awardee Jezureel Tonog, blanking Alfam, 2-0, to take the title.
The women’s side of the tournament, Ateneo FC-B preventing a sweep by MSA in the open competition with a 1-0 decision behind the effort of MVP Jelly Tiu.
The kids’ division had Xavier School taking three titles, winning the Class C-B98 championship, beating DANA, the Class D-B2000 championship over Athletico Diliman, and the Class E -B2002 crown, while MSA placed second.
Xavier FC, meanwhile ran away with two titles, the Class F -G93, defeating Alabang United, and the Class G-G96, prevailing over the Army/Victory FC.
