San Andres elected to PBA post

MANILA, Philippines - Bureau of Customs executive Joey Obial San Andres has been elected second vice president of the Philippine Badminton Association (PBA).

San Andres is also the head and playing coach of the Bureau of Customs badminton team and is concurrently sports committee adviser of the De La Salle University, Canlubang, Laguna.

He represented the Philippines together with coach Errol Chan in the 14th World Badminton Championship and participated in the veterans men’s doubles event held in China last November 2007.

A true sportsman, San Andres comes from a family of athletes. He is the eldest grandson of Olympian swimmer Jose “Joe” Obial, while his mother Imelda Obial was a member of the UE swimming team and a former record holder in the UAAP swimming competitions.
