Tio-Valmoja paces John Hay invitational golf

MANILA, Philippines – Romeo Tio and Jerry Valmoja combined for 80 points to grab the lead in the premier division on the first day of action in the sixth Camp John Hay Invitational golf tournament at John Hay Golf Club in Baguio over the weekend.

Tio shot 41 points and Valmoja  39 for an aggregate of 80 under the Modified Stableford scoring system and a two-point lead over Zoo Bae Kwon and Park Wan Soo, who had a pair of 39s for a 78. Euls Austin and Gary Cruz took third with a 76 after identical 38 points in Class A of the 36-hole tournament spread over three days.

William Campos (40) and Sonny Mangaoan (43) came through with 83 points to wrest a three-point lead over the Bayani Tecson-Charles Baguilat pair (80) while Lilibeth Ratcliffe and Sonia Bruce made 79 points for third in Class B of the tournament, which drew a stellar field of over 200 players composed of club members and their guests.

Moises Guevarra fired 45 points while Joe Rosales made a 35 for an 80, two points up on Inoc Laranang and Joey Ancheta (78) and five ahead of Ed Camacho and Mamerto Marcelo (75) in Class C of the event presented by Business Development Fern, Inc. and Golforce.

James Paggao churned out a 42-point output and drew 41 points from Julius Villamater to show the way in Class D with an 83.
