Korean Olympic champs vie in FDG/Partners Cup
MANILA, Philippines - The South Korean national team will showcase its talent and skills before local fans in the sixth FDG/Partners Cup Invitational Badminton tournament set June 6 at the Yonex Badminton courts at the Liberty Center on Shaw Blvd. in Mandaluyong.
Led by the world No. 2 and Beijing Olympics mixed doubles champions Lee Yong-dae and Lee Hyo-jung, the crack Korean squad will play a series of exhibition games with the country’s top players in the FDG Cup, held in honor of Frederick Go, president of Robinsons Land.
The 28-player Korean contingent also includes members of the team that captured the silver medal in the recent Sudirman Cup in Guangzhou, China, including world No. 4 women’s doubles Lee Kyung-won and Hyo-jung, No. 6 men’s doubles Jung Jae-sung and Yong-dae and No. 8 men’s singles Park Sung-hwan.
Meanwhile, a banner field of 184 players will clash for top honors in various divisions in the Partners Cup side of the event also staged to foster camaraderie among the management and staff of Robinson’s Land Corp.’s (RLC) and its business partners, including architects, consultants, project managers, contractors and suppliers and friends.
Cash prizes and fabulous items are at stake in various categories, including Class Elite, and Classes A, B, C, D and E.
