John Hay Invitational starts

MANILA, Philippines - A banner field of 200, featuring club members and their guests, will see action in the sixth Camp John Hay Invitational golf tournament which unfolds today at John Hay Golf Club in Baguio.

A shotgun start is set at 7 a.m. on the first day of the 36-hole tournament spread over three days to accommodate the big number of participants. Two tee-offs at 7 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. are set in tomorrow’s second day of action while a lone tee-off, also at 7 a.m., will be held Sunday.

 The event is presented by Business Development Fern, Inc. and Golforce.

The field is divided into four groups based on the handicaps of the CJHGC members with Class A to composed of players with handicaps of 0-9, Class B 10-15, Class C 16-19 and Class D 20-27.

Members with handicaps of 28 and above will use the maximum handicap of 27 while guests will have a maximum of 18.

The tournament will apply the Modified Stableford aggregate-combined scores of a member and his/her guest. However, organizers of the event said a maximum of 43 points for individual per day and 82 ponits per team will be imposed.

A trip to Boracay with air, accommodation and golf at Fairways and Bluewater, Tagaytay and Mt. Malarayat golf packages and LCD televisions will be up for grabs as raffle prizes during the awards rites on Sunday starting at 2 p.m. at the Clubhouse Veranda.

Backing the event are Daniel Motors, Inc., Club Leisure Management Corp., Rudy Project, Dynamic Sports Corp., Federal Management and Maintenance Inc., Camp John Hay Manor Hotel, Rizgolf Sports Marketing, WS Sports, Fairways and Bluewater, Boracay Sands and Matrix.
