Toby's fetes employees in 30th year bash

MANILA, Philippines - When Toby’s Sports opened its first store in the Virra Mall in Greenhills, little did anyone know that it would become the country’s largest sports retail chain with branches in almost every major city. 

But beyond just distributing sports apparel and equipment, Toby’s was arguably the first retail outlet to pioneer the concept of a healthy lifestyle through sports. Indeed, their slogan then, “Live life, Play sports” is a battlecry that has brought the company to market dominance over the last three decades.

So, in celebration of 30 years of making sports part of a healthy lifestyle, Toby’s Sports threw a birthday bash that brought together all its partners and franchisees as the company’s way of expressing its thanks for ensuring its success. 

The company gave out dozens of special awards and recognitions to its employees who performed their work exceptionally, who exhibited unmatched loyalty, and who contributed to making Toby’s Sports the leading sports retail chain.

Performances by the different departments were made by the employees adding fun and excitement to the evening. Recognition was also given to the many franchisors for their contribution to the company’s success, many of whom came from the provinces to participate in the evening-long celebration.

“We have always understood and recognized that our success was possible only through the hard work of each and every member of the Toby’s family. From the store manager to the janitor, from the officer to the secretary, we’ve always believed that our success is because we have the right people working towards the company’s success.” said Jose Claudio, president of Toby’s Sports.

The company began operations back in 1979 with just one branch. Over the years, it acquired licenses to distribute well-known, top quality sports apparel and equipment like Nike, Adidas, Puma, Wilson, Dunlop and other noted brands.
