Cebu's Kart Zone tests super series contenders

MANILA, Philippines – Cebu’s premier kart track, the Kart Zone, hosts the the three-day third leg of the 2009 Magnolia Karting Super Series which ends tomorrow in Mabolo, Cebu City.

Short but very challenging, the Kart Zone also features the showdown between Manila karters and Cebu homegrown talented racers in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Magnolia, San Miguel Corp., Palmer Asia Inc., Motorstar and Aeromed.

Cebu is the only other city in the country with a very active karting community and among its top guns competing are Paco Rodriguez, Patrick Gandionco, Kali Carcel, Tonyo Carcel and Jette Calderon, who’s currently leading the Formula SL class.

Ready2Race karter Joey Orduna aims to fortify his campaign for the coveted Karter-of-the-Year award as he guns for his second consecutive triumphs in the ROK Overall class and the ROK Junior division.

Orduna, 13, pulled an impressive victory upstaging senior and more experienced rivals in the last leg as he wrested the overall series leadership with 122 points.

He has a 17-point lead over Andres Calma who’s running second wih 105 points.
