UNO-R clinches two titles in FBL tourney

-

MANILA, Philippines – Chinamart-University of Negros Occidental Recoletos (UNO-R) posted twin wins at the recently concluded Futures Basketball League (FBL) tournament in Bacolod City to take two of the three crowns at stake in the tournament.

In the midgets division, Chinamart-UNO-R-, led by division MVP Paolo Juesna with 15 points, beat University of St. La Salle, 73- 65, for its first championship while having a much-easier walk-over victory over Davies-Welcoat team in the finals of the junior division after the latter staged a walk-out.

Chinamart UNO-R was declared 2-0 winner and boys’ junior champions by Futures Sports and Events, organizers of the tournament presented by Primovit Multi-vitamins and sponsored by Gatorade, Philips Peripherals and Accessories, and Purefoods TJ Hotdogs.

The boys’ mini division was contested by St. John’s Institute and University of St. La Salle with division MVP Timothy Montinola scoring 12 points to lead St. John’s to a 45-33 win over University of St. La Salle to win the division championship.

“ This is our grassroots basketball development program where we target key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao and provide opportunities for young players to play in organized leagues. FBL has grown in the past with more and more schools joining, “ said Niño Sinco, managing director of Futures Sports and Events.
