MANILA, Philippines - Adamson and Jose Rizal U go for win No. 3 against separate rivals as action in the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season MVP Cup resumes today at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Falcons, who made it into last year’s Final Four, tangle with the University of Perpetual Help-Dalta System Altas in the opening game at 2 p.m. while the Heavy Bombers take on a slumping Letran Knights side in the 3:45 p.m. game.
The San Marcelino-based cagers beat the St. Benilde Blazers, 72-62, last Saturday to hike their record to 2-1 in Group A.
The Bombers, on the other hand, dropped a 62-65 decision to the Mapua Cardinals last week and slid to 2-2 in Group B.
But JRU is expected to bounce back strong against Letran, which lost its first four games in the tournament backed by Adidas, Total Phils., Inc., Smart Sports, CDO, Pioneer Insurance, The Philippine STAR, Inquirer, Filoil, Flying V, Astaro/Karspersky, Douwe Egberts, Brothers Burger, Shell, Gourmet Coffee, Cecon/Surbex, Kolin/Syntax, Standard Chartered, DMCI Homes, Jaycees, V-Star, V-8, Tamayo’s Restaurant, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), Molten, the official ball, Insular, Channel V and Makisig Channel, the league’s official television coveror.
Like the Bombers, the Falcons also face a skidding Altas squad which absorbed an 89-72 loss to University of the East, its third in four starts.
Against the Altas, the Falcons will show up with the same solid crew composed of Jerick Canada, Jan Colina, Leo Canuday and Michael Galinato.
The Heavy Bombers, meanwhile, will rely on veterans James Sena, John Wilson and Marc Cagoco.
