National Cockers World derby under way at Ynares

MANILA, Philippines – The National Cockers Alliance (NCA) World Championship Derby starts today at the Ynares Center in Pasig City with another big field expected to see action.

Last year’s champions Bebot Villar, James Uy, Eric dela Rosa, and Jun Topacio go for a repeat against a crack international field in the three-day event sponsored by Sagupaan Complexor 3000.

The other derby dates are on May 21 and May 23.

Others tipped to contend for the overall crown are former NCA Cocker of the Year winners Rep. Iggy Arroyo, Mario Villamor, Rudy Albano, Patrick Antonio and Jun Santiago.

The results of the NCA World Championship Derby have a big bearing on the selection of the NCA Cocker of the Year.

The frontrunners for the title at presstime are Ruel Ricafort and Maio Villamor with 50 1/2 points, Bebot Uy with 46 points, and Patrick Antonio with 42 points.

The winner of the NCA World Championship Derby will receive the Pacquiao Cup from People’s champion Manny Pacquiao.
