Cagayan nine sweeps AlabangTigers

-

MANILA, Philippines – Cagayan swept Alabang in two games to seize the early lead in the inaugural Junior Baseball Philippines tournament, which got under way in venues over the weekend.

The Carabaos tamed the Alabang Tigers, 6-2, on the latter’s turf at the Alabang Country Club last Saturday then reasserted their mastery over the Tigers, 7-3, last Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

That gave Cagayan a 2-0 mark for the early lead in the five-team tournament for players aged 14 to 18.

Cagayan scored three runs in the second inning to offset the solo home run by Alabang’s Josh Rapaport in the fifth frame and Edward Flores’ own homer in the sixth in their first meeting.

Alabang opened with three runs at the top of the first inning last Sunday but Cagayan scored two runs each in the third, fourth and sixth inning to post the win.
