BSCP, BMPAP support first world 10-ball

-

MANILA, Philippines – The country’s hosting of the Women’s World 10-Ball Championship got a huge boost after the Billiards and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP) and the Billiards Managers and Players Association (BMPAP) have thrown their full support to the event slated June 2-6 at the SM Mall North Edsa in Quezon City.

“This is a historic tournament and this is very good for the sport,” said BSCP chairman Aristeo “Putch” Puyat.

“We are delighted to have Dragon Promotions join us in the Philippines and help cultivate the growth of one of the Filipinos’ favorite sports,” Puyat added.

“We welcome the women from around the world and will treat them as our royal guests. Women’s pool in the Philippines has been non-existent in terms of events, so the Women’s World 10-Ball Championship also gives our female players a chance to shine in their country and the world.”

The tournament is considered the biggest women’s sporting event of the year for the Philippines, and will have massive media attention including 25 hours of live coverage on ABS-CBN.

Forty-eight women from around the globe will vie for the $20,000 (P1 million) first place prize out of the $75,000 (P3.75M) purse available. SM Mall North Edsa and JBETPOKER.net are some of the primary sponsors of the event.

Two time World 9-Ball champion Ga Young Kim (Korea), World No. 1 Monica Webb (USA), 2008 Player of the Year Kelly Fisher (England), Japanese champion Akimi Kajitani and World Games gold medalist Jasmin Ouschan (Austria) are some of the stars of female talent attending the event.
