Top beach volley teams clash in Nestea Fit finals

MANILA, Philippines – A total of 18 top class teams all over the country, three each in the men’s and women’s divisions, will vie for this year’s crown when the semifinals and finals of the Nestea Fit Beach Volley National Circuit are staged in Boracay May 7 to 9.

Defending champion Foundation University and fellow Visayan leg qualifiers University of the Visayas and University of San Jose-Recoletos head the cast in the men’s side that also includes the top finishers from the Luzon elims – Far Eastern U, Letran and San Beda – and Mindanao qualifiers Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi, University of Mindanao Davao and Mahardika Institute of Technology.

Leading the chase in women’s play are Adamson U, Far Eastern U and University of the Cordilleras (Luzon), University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, University of Southern Philippines Foundation and University of San Agustin (USA) (Visayas), and University of Mindanao-Davao, University of Mindanao-Tagum and Holy Cross of Davao College (Mindanao).

Up for grabs are the P100,000 champion’s purse while the second and third placers will get P65,000 and P35,000, respectively.

Women’s defending champion and four-time titlist Southwestern University failed to make it to Boracay this time after the team was eliminated by USA during the eliminations held at the Piazza Area of Parkmall in Mandaue City, Cebu.
