Foundation, University of Visayas spikers reach semis

-

MANDAUE CITY , Philippines  – Foundation University stayed on track of its bid for a second straight crown as it subdued University of San Carlos, 21-12, 21-14, yesterday to advance to the semifinal round of the Nestea Fit Beach Volley National Circuit Visayas leg at the Piazza Area in Parkmall here.

Arnel Amadeo and Buensuceso Sayson overpowered USC’s Roderick Arenasa and Bon Vincent Estrera to take a step closer to one of the three slots for Visayas in the national finals set May 7-9 in Boracay.

“We have been doubling our effort because we really want to defend our crown,” said Amadeo, a 23-year-old Commerce student.

Sayson proved to be a worthy partner for Amadeo in place of Rolando Agus, using his sharp jump serves all game long to help power the team to the victory.

University of Visayas also took a semifinal seat after beating Iloilo Doctors College, 21-18, 22-20, for its third win in the tournament. University of Southern Philippines Foundation beat University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, 24-22, 18-21, 18-16, while University of San Jose Recoletos won over University of Negros Occidental Recoletos, 21-16, 21-14, to stay in contention for a semis berth.
