Three events usher in 2009 Batangas Racing Circuit season

-

MANILA, Philippines - The 2009 Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) season kicks off anew with three events – the 2009 BRC Superbikes Series, the 2009 Magnolia Health Tea Philippine Underbone King and the 2009 Yokohama-San Mig Coffee Philippine GT Championships – this weekend in Rosario, Batangas.

Focus will be on the 2009 Magnolia Health Tea Philippine Underbone King, which is expected to draw a bigger and tougher field of participants in this event sanctioned by the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA) and sponsored by San Miguel Corp., Magnolia Health Tea, San Mig Coffee, Yokohama, Aeromed, Inside Racing and Pagcor.

It’s also expected to be another intense battle among manufacturers Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Tiger, Motorstar and Sinski as talented riders vie for the titles in the 150 Open, 125 Open, Sports Production and Superstock classes and the 115 Sports Production and Super Stock divisions.

Defending champion and Golden Wheel awardee for Underbone Jaime Barcial of Yamaha-Castrol will lead the cast as he guns for a back-to-back crown in the 150 Open class up against Yamaha teammates Masato Fernando and Maico Buncio.

Joining the fray are Suzuki’s Johnlery Enriquez and multi-titled Joelt Jao, Iraq Bauzon, Mark Chua, Rizaldy Canare, Noel de Mesa, Tracy Soyangco and Benjo Mendoza.

Maico Buncio of Yamaha-Elf-YRS Racing also faces a big task as he seeks title retention not just in the 125 Sports Production class but also eyes a three-peat in the 2009 BRC Superbikes Series.

Buncio tackles tough rivals Jolet Jao, Johnlery Enriquez, Dashi Watanabe, and Jaime Barcial in the 125 Sports Production class.

But bigger challenges await Buncio in the 2009 BRC Superbikes Series where he faces Glenn Aguilar of Yellowcab-Ducati-Access Plus, Suzuki’s Jolet Jao, David Pua, Benjo Mendoza and Randy Ortiz among others.

Also favored in other divisions are Raniel Resuelo, Mark Doblada, Jeff Chan and James Barcial.

Resuelo will try to keep the 125 Open crown up against Maico Buncio, Geoffrey Aguisanda, Jolet Jao and Johnlery Enriquez while Doblada will go up against Gregorio Centeno, John Wilfred Arteza and Neil Soyangco in the 125 Super Stock class.

Chan hopes to dominate the 115 Sports Production class over Mark Barcial, Anthony Roman and Mark Doblada while James Barcial seeks a good start against Michael Medina, Victor Laude of Tiger Motorcycles, Paolo Labador, lady rider Joanna Arreglado, Gino Limcaco, Basil Aljamani, Nino Fabian and Michael Altamira in the 115 Super Stock class.
