Titans, Wizards seek No. 2

-

MANILA, Philippines - Opening-day winners Oracle Residences and Magnolia Purewater seek victory No. 2 in the 2009 PBL PG Flex Unity Cup as they go up against Cobra Energy Drink and Licealiz, respectively, at resumption of action today at the San Juan gym.

Magnolia and Licealiz clash at 2 p.m. then Oracle and Cobra square off at 4 p.m. in Day Two of the short but tough tourney among five talent-laden teams.

The Wizards clobbered the Pharex Generix, 82-75, while the Titans clipped the Hair Doctors, 73-64, in Wednesday’s opener of the country’s premier amateur league.

The Energy Warriors make their debut practically straight from the airport as they are coming from a three-week training in the United States.

The Oracle-Cobra tiff will pit among others the exciting match-up between talented guards Mark Barroca and Paul Lee.

Barroca, himself fresh from overseas training with the RP developmental pool, tossed in a game-high 17 points in leading the Titans to the convincing win over the Hair Doctors.

Dylan Ababou, another member of the RP training team, also dished out a remarkable game in powering Magnolia past Pharex.

Coaches Koy Banal of Magnolia and Glen Capacio of Oracle said they will give ample playing time for Barroca and Ababou before letting them go again to join the RP pool in another trip abroad. The RP team leaves for the US Sunday.
