MANILA, Philippines - Richie Santos and guest partner Raul George combined for a whopping 164 points via the Modified Stableford scoring system to claim the overall net team championship in the Invitational 2009 played at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club recently.
Santos, a multi-titled jet skier and former awardee of the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA), and George put on a dazzling performance at the Legends course with 82 points then matched it at the Masters two days later.
Santos and George were joined at the podium by Lucio Tan Jr. and Joey Gabay, who assembled 146 points to grab the gross team championship crown. Allan Yap and Oliver Gan also had 146 but were given the Class A tiara because of higher handicap.
Other winners were Boy David and Arman Serafin (Class A), Felix Cortez and Peping Nepomuceno (Class B), Archimedes Cruz and Henry Dios (Class C), George Alfonso and Cesar Castro (Class D) and Finina Gorres and Christine Popp (Sponsors).
Eriberto Ramos Jr. and Hyuk Man-kwon, won a Mitsubishi Lancer GLS car and a Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise with Korean Air business class tickets for two in the raffle.
A Royal Caribbean Asian cruise with airfare from Baron Travel, vacation packages from Sabah Tourism Board, Mactan Shangri-La, Coca-Cola and El Nido, a SYM motorbike, a Mit-Air aircon unit, four golf sets from Wilson, Mizuno, Callaway and Dynamic Sports, and two carts from Club Car-Pacsports and Texas Eagle-The Turf Company were given away.
