MANILA, Philippines - The Shakey’s V-League Summer Camp starts at 8 a.m. today with 212 girls aged 9-14 participating at the Ateneo Blue Eagle gym.
Late enrollees will still be accommodated before the start of the session, according to the organizing Sports Vision, with the country’s top players heading the roster of instructors. Fee is pegged at P2,500, inclusive of training kit containing an official Shakey’s V-League summer volleyball camp shirt, sports bottle, sports bag, face towel and volleyball with meal stubs for all the days.
There will be four sessions a day – 8-10 a.m., 10-12 noon, 1-3 p.m. and 3-5 p.m.
A festival will be held at the end of the camp where kids will be divided into four to 10 teams.
The eight-day camp, sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza in its continuing effort to discover and develop future Filipino players and at the same time boost the development of the sport.
Shakey’s V-League stars Mary Jean Balse and Suzanne Roses are among the instructors tapped by Shakey’s to conduct the camp along with Laurence Ann Latigay, the two-time NCAA Most Valuable Player, and national team mainstay Jinni Mondejar.
Volleyball patterns such as spiking, basic receiving, blocking, and even stretching and other drills will be taught during the camp.
