'El Presidente' sets up Cebu cage

MANILA, Philippines - The Ramon Fernandez Basketball Academy (RFBA), headed by Ramon “El Presidente” Fernandez, will be conducting the “Walk Tall With Basketball” clinics from April 23 to May 1 at the Capitol Parish Gym along Escario street in Cebu City.

The training module is open to boys and girls six to 12 years old.

“I decided to stretch the age limit a little bit as quite a number of parents requested me to do so. It was originally set for kids aged 7-10 only,” Fernandez said.

All sessions will be handled by Fernandez, named the top choice in the PBA’s list of 25 Greatest Basketball Players. He also garnered four “Most Valuable Player” (MVP) awards and holds the “all -time Highest Playing Points Record” which led to his enshrinement to the Basketball Hall of Fame.

To ensure personalized supervision and training, the coach-player ratio will be maintained at 1:15 and participants will be limited to 60 kids on a first-come-first- served basis. Since its inception in 1995, more than 15,000 kids have participated in these camps and several have moved on to the high school varsity, college and professional levels.

Registration fee is P3,000 inclusive of two training shirts, one “Sportivo-El Presidente” basketball (Fernandez’ signature ball by Sunsport) and a certificate of attendance to be signed by Fernandez himself.
