Boxing elims up in Ormoc, Leyte

MANILA, Philippines - The first Smart/ABAP Area boxing tournament kicks off this week in Ormoc City and Kananga, Leyte with boxers from different Visayas provinces hoping to use the event as their stepping stone to make it to the national team.

The event, open to boys from the kids (11 years to 12 years old) to the youth category (under 19 years old), is part of ABAP’s long-term program aimed at winning the country’s first-ever Olympic gold.

The ABAP is now busy preparing for the 2012 Olympics in London.
